Cheerful Get Well Card

I don't know about you, but I just think get well cards should be bright and cheerful.  A sweet lady from my church had a little spill at home recently and I wanted to send her a card that would make her smile and brighten her day and while the cards in the stores are lovely, they all seemed a bit somber.  So I chose a pack of paper with happy colors and card stock that matched.  I then finished off the card with a lovely scripture - Jeremiah 17:14.  It turned out so good and I really hope it made her smile through the pain she was suffering with.  Video Tutorial for this project.

Humorous Get Well Card

A very special young man in our lives just had surgery for scoliosis and we wanted to cheer him up as his surgery approached.  There was already so much worry and heavy emotion weighing on him and his family that it seemed like even a momentary smile would be helpful and healing.  I had the thought "Straight as an arrow" running through my head for days whenever I thought of our young friend and the outcome of his surgery.  I ran with the idea of "straight as an arrow"  and this is the card that emerged from the vision.  Video Tutorial

I was already sure of God's grace in this situation and the positive outcome and I wanted to spread that encouragement to him and those around him.  Please remember to pray for the young people around you who are going through something.  Your prayer could make all the difference in the world to them.

Fall/Autumn Anniversary Card

I just started to work with water colors and it is a learning process and I have A LOT to learn! But all that said, I wanted to do something original and beautiful for my husband for our 20th wedding anniversary and I thought making him my very first water color piece of art was pretty special.  He is the sort of person that will really appreciate not only the hand made aspect of this card but also the fact that it is the first of a particular art medium that I am working with.  I know there are lots of mistakes in my water color technique and I still have lots to learn but I'm looking forward to it.  I really enjoyed making this little piece of art no matter now amateur it is!  Video Tutorial for this card.

Owl Themed Treat Bags

I saw this really cute blog post with these sweet little owl treat bags and decided they were a must for my granddaughter's owl themed birthday party.  Well here's the thing about working with someone else's ideas, it's usually helpful if you follow their directions!  While my bags still turned out pretty cute, they were not exactly like my inspiration bags.  Just remember to read directions and if you are going to make adjustments to someone else's design, expect different results.  Video tutorial of this project.

Pretty in Pink Pennant Birthday Banner

I just don't think a little girl's first birthday party would be complete without a personalized pink pennant banner, don't you? Well, at least my granddaughters wouldn't have been! hehehe  This crafty grandmother just couldn't resist the urge to create a very beautiful and one of a kind 1st birthday banner for her beloved little beauty.  Believe me when I tell you, it was a labor of love.  This project is not one for the faint of heart or impatient.  It's not difficult, just a little time consuming, mostly when it comes to accordian folding a bazillion rosettes, but anyway.  The end result is most definitely worth it.  When the party is all over with, her Mom can take the name portion of  the banner and hang it in her room and since I used the same colors on the banner that her room is decorated with, it will flow beautifully!  Hope you enjoy this little project.  Video tutorial for this project.

Owl Themed Birthday Party Invitations

My granddaugther's  first birthday party had an owl theme and her mom wanted her invites to have the same theme but she couldn't find any pre-made invitations that suited her.  So, Grammy to the rescue! hehehe We found some paper she liked in color schemes and patterns that were pleasing and off to the Cricut we went.  There is nothing a Grammy can't solve with some pretty paper, glue, google eyes and a Cricut, right?  In no time we had a mock up of a card design that made my daughter-in-law very happy and was exactly what she had in mind when she envisioned our little angel's first birthday party.  She's had an owl theme from day one.  Her baby shower invitations and birth announcements were owl themed so it seemed only fitting that her first birthday keep the same thought process.  I think what we came up with is totally adorable and we couldn't be happier!  What do you think?  Video Tutorial for this card
