FOTD December 6, 2012 Nude Tude Eyes

I imagine you all have already read and/or seen video reviews of The Balm's Nude Tude Palette, so I won't bore you with all the details.  I will say this, it is beautiful and the quality is superior.  The only down side I can see in this product is the size of the shadows.  They are less than a gram each in size and weight.  It won't take long to hit pan on these shadows.  The colors are really nice and are so smooth and blendable.  I feel like at $18.00 (which is what I paid on Haute Look)  it was a good value.  I don't feel that the original asking price of $36.00 would have been a good value considering the size of the shadows.  So, on to the look!

Shimmery Winter Night Manicure/Tutorial

This is the second manicure in my Holiday 2012 series.  I wanted to create a look that would reflect a dark starry winter sky sparkling with stars and snowflakes.  I like the way this manicure turned out but after it was done I felt like the snowflakes would have looked better in white instead of silver.  Oh well, there's always next year!  Here are the steps to acheive this manicure:

I started by painting my nails with two coats of Dark Navy by ELF

I used the Snowflake and the little stars on Bundle Monster Plate BM14
I used Celeb City by Sally Hansen for the stamping.  I placed stars on my thumb and pinky finger and snowflakes on all fingers except my pinky.

I dabbed a bit of Stunning by Revlon onto my stamping plate and with a dotting tool I picked up bits of the chunkier glitter and placed it randomly around my nails

I cleaned up and applied my favorite top coat, Dries Instantly by Sally Hansen and Voila!!  Shimmery Winter Nights!

Holiday Glitz Manicure

It's holiday time again!!  Has everyone done their shopping yet.  I am delighted to say that I am nearly done and almost everything is wrapped.  All of the holiday decorations and cheer put me in the mood to start my series of Holiday Manicures.  I just recently purchased a new glitter polish and couldn't wait to incorporate it in this series.  It's The Family Jewels by Pure Ice.  Very affordable polish I picked up at Wal Mart.  It is a clear polish LOADED with finely milled gold glitter and diamond shaped gold holographic glitter.  Stunning!!  It would only take two coats of this to have a very opaque coverage of glitter.  One coat of it over a colored polish would create a gorgeous effect.  My only complaint would be that the polish is thick, but this is fairly normal with heavily glittered polish.  For this manicure I paired it with Rich in Heart by Sinful Colors.  I applied it heavily at the tips and more thinly going toward the cuticles.  The final look was more than I had hoped for, so pretty.  Hope you enjoy!  I apologize that the pictures are not a better quality.  I snapped them with my phone and just couldn't get them clear and non blurry.  But overall you still get a good look at how well the colors worked together.

FOTD December 5, 2012 Sparkling Taupe Eyes

I know you're probably getting tired of looks using the Black Radiance Palette.  It is just so different from anything I've ever used.  The colors are quite unique, rich and smokey.  This morning I only used eyeshadow as eye liner and I really like the effect.  I sprayed a little makeup setting mist on my angled eye liner brush and loaded it with the black/gold color in the palette to line my upper and lower lash lines.  I did the same thing with a matte black eyeshadow for my water line.  Now this is what really surprised me, it is lasting longer in my water line than any eyeliner product I have ever used.  I was a little afraid at first of putting a mixture with the makeup setting mist in my eye, worried that it would burn and/or itch.  To my pleasant surprise, it did neither and was quite comfortable.  I really can't believe how well it is holding up and wearing.  I may never use regular eyeliner again!!  Well, that might be going too far, but seriously, the results were so much better than I expected. On to the look!

FOTD December 3, 2012 Mistletoe Eyes

This eye look was inspired by the colors of mistletoe, with the different greens and the red of the berries.  There is a duo chrome color in  the Wet n Wild Palette - Comfort Zone that makes this look very easy to acheive.  It changes from red to green with a brown/bronzey base.  I've heard it compared to MAC's eyeshadow Club.  I personally have not used that eyeshadow so it would be difficult for me to claim they are exact dupes.  MAC describes Club as a red-brown with green pearl and that certainly describes this Wet N Wild color well.  Now, on to the look!!
