There is nothing better than giving or receiving a personalized gift on you special occasion. One of my son and daughter-in-law's favorite wedding presents is a tile they were given by a family member that has their monogram and est 2014 on it that came with a display stand. When I saw that, I thought, "I can do that!" It's affordable to do, it's beautiful, it's personal and I promise you, it will be one of the couple's favorite gifts! You will be amazed at how simple it is to recreate. Do not be discourage if you do not have a die cutting machine or manual die cutters that you can make your own stencils with. There are so many sources out there for stencils these days. Just check out your local hobby or craft store or check out specialty stores online. I promise you, you can spend less than $15-$20 to make a very beautiful and unique present that the couple will cherish for years! I used a plate from WalMart for this project but you could just as easily use a 12 X 12 non glazed or glazed ceramic tile from the hardware store. After it's baked (if you use a ceramic tile) you could put felt pads on the bottom and make it a trivet instead of a display piece. As I always say, you are only limited by your imagination! I just don't think a little girl's first birthday party would be complete without a personalized pink pennant banner, don't you? Well, at least my granddaughters wouldn't have been! hehehe This crafty grandmother just couldn't resist the urge to create a very beautiful and one of a kind 1st birthday banner for her beloved little beauty. Believe me when I tell you, it was a labor of love. This project is not one for the faint of heart or impatient. It's not difficult, just a little time consuming, mostly when it comes to accordian folding a bazillion rosettes, but anyway. The end result is most definitely worth it. When the party is all over with, her Mom can take the name portion of the banner and hang it in her room and since I used the same colors on the banner that her room is decorated with, it will flow beautifully! Hope you enjoy this little project. Video tutorial for this project.
My granddaugther's first birthday party had an owl theme and her mom wanted her invites to have the same theme but she couldn't find any pre-made invitations that suited her. So, Grammy to the rescue! hehehe We found some paper she liked in color schemes and patterns that were pleasing and off to the Cricut we went. There is nothing a Grammy can't solve with some pretty paper, glue, google eyes and a Cricut, right? In no time we had a mock up of a card design that made my daughter-in-law very happy and was exactly what she had in mind when she envisioned our little angel's first birthday party. She's had an owl theme from day one. Her baby shower invitations and birth announcements were owl themed so it seemed only fitting that her first birthday keep the same thought process. I think what we came up with is totally adorable and we couldn't be happier! What do you think? Video Tutorial for this card
